Poinsettia Petals

This card started life as a CASE of Connie Babbert's.  I loved her composition and the elegant, almost mono-chromatic palette.  The Poinsettia Petals and dies are a bundle that us available out of the Holiday Mini Catalog.  The Very Vanilla background was run through the Big Shot with the Winter Snow embossing folder, then sponged with Frost White All-Purpose Ink for the iridescent lustre.

The Very Vanilla poinsettia was not stamped, but cut out and scored using the Poinsettia dies and lightly folded using a bone folder.  The holly leaves were likewise not stamped, but cut out of Soft Seafoam Velveteen paper using the Poinsettia dies.  The berries are die cut out of Whisper White and the berry ends have a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.

A bit of ribbon and an embossed sentiment complete the look!

Pearls and Garland

I love this look!  Maybe it's because it's November and I'm tired of holiday color schemes.  Whatever, I really do like the crispness of the white layer embossed with the Perfect Polk Dots folder with the warmth of the Pear Pizzazz and the Flirty Flamingo.  I stamped out two of the vine and floral garlands and wove them together, with birds from the Quite Curvy set and sequins, to get this look.

The sentiment was made using the Lovely Labels pick a punch, which I love.  You can use three widths of card stock (1/2", 3/4" or 1") to get the perfect look for whatever sentiment you choose.

Quite Curvy!

This was partially CASEd from one of the samples for the new Quite Curvy variety bundle.  I added the Gorgeous Grape frame using the Ornate Frames dies, a strip of Gorgeous Grape striped ribbon, a bow and some coordinating dsp.  I loved the "garden" feel of the original, and the Shaded Spruce and Gorgeous Grape color scheme.

In addition to the lovely floral stamps, the Quite Curvy variety bundle also includes a holiday set, Quite Curvy Christmas.  This is truly a bundle for the whole year!

Snow Wonder!

This card went through so many iterations, until I finally came on the finished product.  I changed the dsp and changed the central image THREE times!  It's so pathetic, that I've going to give you the two ripped down versions of the hideous central image.  Think of it as a first of November ha-ha!

Too much of everything, right?  Too much mercury acetate paper.  Too much glitter.  Too many patterns.  AND TOO MUCH PUFF PAINT EVERYWHERE!!  Plus, I think that there are too many images in the Light My Way set. I think that I need to cut it apart in the future to get at the separate elements.

On the snowman image, I used ice Stampin' Glitter instead of Puff Paint.  I think that it gives a cleaner appearance, as the card base is pretty intricate.  I also love last years' Snowman Accents, so I recycled some of those, too.

Inter-Office Mail

This all started with the old inter-office mail closure.

I really wanted to do a manila envelope, but couldn't make it work without the card ending up really huge.  So I gave up on the envelope, and kept the closure.  My second option was to create a background with texture.  I pulled out my old favorite Print Pattern (sadly retired for so many years!) started messing with it.  I ended up with Bumble Bee ink on So Saffron card stock.  Then wanting even more texture, I fussy cut the edges of the harlequin pattern, sponged them with More Mustard, then backed it with Bumble Bee card stock.

To do the closure, I first cut a quarter off the the Print Pattern background, reversed it and adhered it to a layer of Cajun Craze.  I cut two Cajun Craze circles with the 3/4" punch, then anchored them with two oversized brads to the card stock.  A piece of linen thread finished up the look!

Pearled Peony

I've officially gone blind separating and adhering baby pearls (non-SU!), on top of piecing together the punched border pieces cut with the Ornate Borders dies. I'm totally digging Prized Peony with the Peony Garden dsp -- as unlikely as it originally seemed, Petal Pink and Gray Granite are so softly awesome together!  Since the colors are so soft, they invite added texture, such as beads, pearls, ribbon, mixed borders and frosting the petals of the peony with Frost White All Purpose Ink.

To further bring out the peony, I stamped two images in Gray Granite.  I watercolored both with Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo, then cut out the petals that I would want to "pop up."  Those individual layers were curled with a bone folder, then I glued just the tiny piece that connects to the card stock -- no Dimensionals were harmed  in the creation of this peony!

The finishing touches were to paint in highlights with the Frost White All-Purpose Ink and lowlights by watercoloring them in with Gray Granite under the petals.  I watercolored the center of the peony with Daffodil Delight and More Mustard, then  adhered beads in light and dark gold.  The leaves were stamped and watercolored in Gray Granite.

Zany Zebras!

Zany Zebras is one of the new sets in the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! annual catalog -- and I really love these little guys!  They're so happy!  Since my cute little fav set This Little Piggy retired, this zebra set will be perfect to take it's place.

A couple of things about this card.  One, the fence is made from the little 2-picket fence stamp in Grace's Garden.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig and stamped it out until I had a long enough fence for my project. , then fussy cut it out with scissors.  Two, the clouds in the sky, are sponged on white card stock, using two punches from the scallop label punch.  Three, the tree started out with one of the leafless "stick" trees from In The Woods framelits.  I stamped out the little oak leaf from Beautiful Autumn with Crumb Cake ink, then used the oak leaf punch from the Autumn Punch Pack (SU! Holiday Mini) to make lots of little leaves. I then curled the tips of the leaves using a bone folder and layered the leaves to create the tree.

Ephemera, ephemera, everywhere!

I really wanted to create a shabby page from a botany journal, but I think I messed up with two central images -- it doesn't seem to have a focal point. Oh well -- live and learn! I did, however, make the lined notebook paper, using the old Spiral punch, which is so sadly retired.

Does anyone remember the days when we altered every piece of dsp that crossed our paths? The striped dsp was over stamped in Crackle Paint in Soft Suede, then I pulled out my all-time-favorite from Itty Bitty Backgrounds, the spatter stamp. I worked that one in Crumb Cake Soft Suede and White craft ink. The diamond piece was stamped on the "craft" looking Crumb Cake piece, also from Gilded Autumn dsp, and the spatter stamp worked in Soft Suede. Both Pieces are Sponged with Soft Suede

The textiles were a bit of a problem. I started with the Merry Merlot/Copper reversible ribbon, but that didn't just do it -- it got lost in the striped pattern of the dsp. I added Mint Macaron sheer linen ribbon, but brought it over the diamond pattern layer. It still didn't seem enough, so I added the slightly narrower Mint Macaron Textile and the Copper bordered Vanilla ribbon across the center. I added a Merry Merlot box and a row of gold metallic pearls across the center.

Jar of Sunflowers

Jar of Flowers is one of the new sets in the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  It's a very versatile set, having  two sizes of jars and four seasonal bunches of flowers -- tulips, summer blooms, roses and sunflowers. It's bundled with a punch the exact shape of the jar, so it's easy to punch out!

I couldn't find quite the card stock I wanted for the central image, so I used the old Print Pattern background stamp, which I lightly sponged with Crumb Cake to get the slightly textured look.  The sentiment is from Field Journal and I used my new favorite punch, Banners Pick a Punch.

Peony Snow Globe

Why is it since Cov19 took over our world, it takes more and more time to complete a card?  I don't know.  However, it's not like I'm not spending the same amount of time at my desk, but the cards just keep a' growin'.

There is so much going on here, it might take awhile to explain.

I watercolored two of the peony blossom, then fussy cut and layered it to create more of a 3D blossom.  I have the Peony dies, but I like this better -- probably because it's so fussy.  The petals are painted with Frost White Shimmer Paint from Stampin' Up!  It's not obvious in the photo, but it's got this amazing lustre IRL.  The center of the peony is done with old SU! beads in Earths.  Just touching the edges of the beads with the the white frost ink gives them a bit more dimension.

I'm so glad that SU! brought back Still Scenes in this years Holiday Mini!  I loved this set last year and I'm looking forward to playing with it again.  The snow globe domes are also back -- yay!  The champagne pearls around the globe are non-SU!, but I love them and find uses for them in so many projects.  I got these off Amazon, but I wish that SU! would put some in the catalog!

The leaves and buds at the corners of the central layer are from Forever Blossoms -- another favorite set.

Peony Post Card

Prized Peony is clearly going to be one of my favorite sets from the 2020-2021 SU! Annual Catalog! It's form + function = my shabby style.  The central image of this card is based on a peeled wallpaper treatment using designs from the Peony Garden and In Good Taste DSPs.  The key to really making the peeled wallpaper work is to sponge the edges of both sides of the "wallpaper" layers, then splitting and rolling edges to give it that aged/shabby look.

The Post Card is a sadly retired set, but I like to pull it out from time to time, because it's so versatile.  In this instance, everything is stamped using Gray Granite ink.  The left side of the post card is filled with text from Very Versaille, and the right with a sentiment from Prized Peony. The flowers themselves are stamped in Gray Granite, then watercolored with Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo, fussy cut, and arranged around the edge of the post card.  The centers of the flowers are touched with Wink of Stella in gold.

I'm still in my current love affair with the Ornate Borders dies, outlining everything - I can't help it!  The flourish in the upper right is cut from the Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut DSP, which is the most devilish thing to work with, EVER!  The effect is worth it, though.  The pearls are from a big bag of champagne colored pearls that I got from somewhere.  Stampin' Up!, if you're listening, please put some of these in your catalog!!!
