Rare Blessings

The OCD is so real that you can smell it!  I think that I've been in my house too long.  I can't seem to finish up any project in a timely fashion, but just keep adding layers and embellishments until I force myself to photograph the project and call it a day.

Or four days....

I wanted to use the new Ornate Layers and Ornate borders dies, but the Ornate Garden DSP and the Ornate Style stamps weren't clicking for me -- as usual, I wanted to do something with more a vintage look.  I found this old Afternoon Tea DSP and knew that that's the direction I wanted to go!

I really like the elegant, sinuous style of the orchid images from the Rare Blessings set -- I like how it looks against the lacy rectangles.  I stamped the image in Soft Suede, then measured and cut the image to fit mostly within the Mint Macaron lacy frame. The image was, of course, too large, but I fussy cut the tops of the flowers to fit.  The largest blossom is cut out and popped up with a Dimensional, to give it a little more lift.

Because I cut all the rectangle layers out of the Afternoon Tea DSP, I didn't realize that the brown layer was really Close to Cocoa, rather than Early Espresso, until I'd assembled all the layers.  (The striped layer and the chicken wire layers were just basic layering, with straight edges). After it all was glued into place, I saw that the Close to Cocoa really didn't work at all.  SO, I started cutting borders in Early Espresso, from the Ornate Borders dies.

It took a lot of cutting and sliding bits and pieces around, but I finally got it down.  Thank heavens for liquid glue!!
